PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Water Main Replacement Project on Prairie Ave. between Manchester Blvd. and Hardy St; and Pincay Dr. between Prairie Ave. and Stadium Dr. is a state and locally funded initiative to relocate existing water mains that intersect with the Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC).

The project will modernize the infrastructure, as most lines have been in service for 60-80 years.  The upgrade supports the long-term sustainability of the water main for future use.

This project will include replacing approximately 4,300 linear feet of pipe and water service connections, installing, and relocating fire hydrants, transferring water service to the new lines, and abandoning existing water lines.

Date and Work Hours

Construction will begin Monday, April 1, 2024, and continue for approximately 6 months.  Work is anticipated to be performed each week, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM each day. Crews may begin site preparation and clean up an hour before and after.

What to Expect

  • Road Restrictions

Minor rolling lane restrictions will be in place through April 2024, along Pincay Dr. between Prairie Ave. and Stadium Dr. and Prairie Ave. between Manchester Blvd. and Hardy St.  These restrictions will facilitate potholing work to verify existing conditions below the roadway surface.

Once the potholing work is completed, construction activities will begin to install the new water main infrastructure. This work will require restrictions starting at Pincay Drive between Prairie Ave. and Stadium Dr.

Construction will then progress to Prairie Ave.

  • Disruption to Water Service

Water service will remain operational during the construction of the new lines.  Once the new lines are in place, a tie-in requiring shutdown(s) of water service will be scheduled and coordinated in advance with those impacted.  Interruption in water service is anticipated to be isolated to areas on the west side of Prairie Avenue.

  • Street Parking Restricted

Street parking will be restricted during this time. Please watch for “no parking” signs to identify locations where parking restrictions have been implemented to enable construction activities.

  • Alternative Routes for Pedestrians

Alternative routes for pedestrians and bus stops will be identified as necessary to ensure pedestrain access is maintained during construction.

  • Business & Residential Access Maintained

Safe access to businesses and residences will always be maintained.

  • Use Caution & Stay Safe

Traffic control devices, personnel, and equipment will be present along Prairie Avenue during work shifts. Please use caution when traveling through the area and obey posted speed limits and traffic control devices.

Thank you to the California State Transportation Agency, the California Transportation Commission, and the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for their continued support of the Inglewood Transit Connector Project and for funding this phase of work.
