Centering Community Voices
The rephased plan is rooted in community voices. With the Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC), revitalization means lifting up what’s already vibrant. The plan addresses community needs by providing traffic relief, connecting neighborhoods, and improving access to regional transit and the City’s activity centers.
Small Business Spotlight
Local residents and small businesses are what make Inglewood, Inglewood. And Inglewood business owners are excited about what transit solutions mean for their businesses. Explore the stories of local businesses through the lens of the ITC:
Support for Small Businesses
The ITC is delivering transit upgrades and investing in local businesses in the heart of Market Street. At the same time, the City is working one‑on‑one with businesses to help them stay and thrive in Inglewood.
In response to community input, the City has reduced the right-of-way needs – resulting in a reduced number of businesses (from 44 to 23) affected by first phase of the plan.
The City is working one‑on‑one with those businesses, to help them stay and thrive in Inglewood.
All eligible displaced businesses are being offered tailored support with the goal of keeping them operating locally and developing a relocation strategy that meets their unique needs.
What the City is Providing
- Dedicated relocation support: Every business is paired with a relocation agent to guide eligibility, paperwork, timelines, and site selection.
- Financial assistance: Benefits aligned with state and federal rules.
- Business growth tools: Promotional assistance, marketing support, and signage so customers can find and follow their favorite businesses.
- Destination Market Street investment: Eligible businesses and property owners can apply for façade/tenant improvement grants to upgrade new spaces in the historic downtown area.
What to Expect Next
- Right‑of‑way acquisitions: The City will acquire two sites at Market & Florence and Market & Manchester.
- Timing: The team will request approval by the City Council to make offers to property owners by the end of 2025. At that point, impacted businesses become eligible for assistance per state and federal law.
- Individualized benefits: Benefits depend on each business’ needs. All businesses have been assigned an agent to support them through the package of services and assistance.
- Our commitment: The City is working with business owners to identify locations that excite them.
