Why is the ITC important for Inglewood?
The ITC is a long-term investment in Inglewood’s future. Phase 1 will improve everyday mobility, make streets safer and more walkable, strengthen Market Street, support local businesses, and prepare the City for continued growth and major events, including the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Why did the project change?
The City updated the project after evaluating construction timing before the 2028 Olympics, available funding, and extensive community input. Phase 1 focuses on improvements that can be delivered sooner while preserving the opportunity to build an Automated People Mover (APM) in the future.

Is the Automated People Mover (APM) still planned?
Yes. The APM remains part of the City’s long-term vision. Phase 1 preserves the opportunity to build the system in the future as funding becomes available and travel demand continues to grow.

What happens after the 2028 Olympics?
Phase 1 is designed to serve Inglewood well beyond the Olympics. Residents will continue to benefit from improved transit connections, safer streets, enhanced pedestrian amenities, and investment in Market Street. The project also preserves the opportunity for a future APM and the City is continually looking at evolving technology as well.

How will Phase 1 improve everyday transportation?
Phase 1 includes improvements for both event and non-event travel. It improves connections to Metro, enhances pedestrian and bicycle facilities, introduces event-day shuttle service and dedicated bus lanes, upgrades traffic technology, and supports continued improvements to the City’s local transit network, including the I-Line Trolley system.

Where will the Mobility Hubs be located?
Three Mobility Hubs will connect residents and visitors with Metro, Market Street, major employment centers, entertainment venues, parking, rideshare, bicycle facilities, and local transit. Three hubs are located along Market Street near the Metro K Line and another hub near the Metro C Line Transit Station at Hawthorne and 111th Street to improve regional connectivity.

Where will the event-day bus lanes operate?
Dedicated event-day bus lanes will operate on Hawthorne Boulevard, La Brea Avenue, and Arbor Vitae Street. These lanes are activated during major events to improve transit reliability. Regular municipal transit service will continue to operate throughout Inglewood.

What improvements are planned for non-event days?
Phase 1 improves everyday access to Metro and Market Street while the City continues to evaluate additional improvements to local transit service, including the I-Line, to better serve residents throughout the year.  The City is also evaluating emerging technology and exploring automated vehicle technology for demonstration projects in the near future.

Will the project help reduce traffic?
Yes. By improving transit connections and making public transportation more reliable and convenient, Phase 1 is expected to reduce vehicle trips during major events, improve traffic flow, and encourage more people to use transit.  We hope to build on increased transit ridership as seen during the World CuP events.

How will the project support Market Street?
Phase 1 includes streetscape improvements such as wider sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, seating, wayfinding, and improved access to help create a more welcoming downtown. The City is also providing programs to support local businesses and property owners.

What if my business or property is affected?
The City is committed to working individually with property owners and businesses affected by acquisition necessary for transit improvements. Eligible businesses may receive relocation assistance and personalized support, with every effort made to help them remain in Inglewood whenever possible.

When will construction begin?
Construction on the Market/Florence site is expected to begin in mid-November 2026, with the possibility of some earlier streetscape work. . Roadway improvements to create dedicated event bus lanes will be initiated in 2027. Some construction impacts will be unavoidable, particularly near active work areas. Residents and businesses may experience temporary lane closures, sidewalk detours, parking restrictions, construction noise, and changes to traffic patterns. The City and project team will work to maintain access and provide advance notice before major construction activities begin near homes or businesses.

How will construction affect the community/what ares will it affect?
Phase 1 includes improvements in several parts of Inglewood, not just Market Street. The main construction areas include:

• • The Market/Florence Mobility Hub and pedestrian bridge connection to the Downtown Inglewood Metro Station
  • The Market/Manchester Mobility Hub
  • The La Brea/Kelso Mobility Hub
  • Streetscape improvements along Market Street, Queen Street, and Manchester Boulevard
  • Event-day bus routes and related travel-lane and traffic-system improvements

Not every area will be affected at the same time. The timing and type of impact will depend on the location and the specific work being completed.

We will provide updates on construction schedule in the next few months. Our project team will also work closely with those property owners, tenants, and businesses directly affected by construction activities to provide advance notice and coordinate site-specific needs.

Your voice matters. The City encourages residents, business owners, employees, and visitors to stay engaged throughout the project. Attend community meetings, participate in workshops and surveys, visit the project website, and follow the ITC on social media for updates. Every opportunity to participate helps ensure the project reflects the needs and priorities of the Inglewood community.
